Professor
A. R. Thakur received his Ph.D. degree from Calcutta
University in Physics in 1978. He worked all along
at the interface of Physics and Biology and thereby
established himself as an excellent Biophysicist.
His major research interests are in the area of Microbial
Biodiversity, Molecular biology of Methanogens (DNA
Cell Biol. 2004, 23:301-10; J. Exp. Biol. 2003, 41:915-7;
Anaerobe 2003, 9:15-21; Anaerobe 2000, 6:325-331;
Anaerobe 2000, 4:241-247), structure-function correlation
of various forms of DNA, DNA flexibility in phylogenetic
analysis (J.Biomol. Struct. Dyn 2001, 18: 527-533,
Ind. J. Biochem. Biophys. 2001, 38:104-106). Development
of bioinformatic tools for diverse use is his recent
interest.
